On Wednesday, 25 June 2025, the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Rijeka hosted a CROSS-REIS Info Day.
The event was opened by CROSS-REIS’s Saša Čegar, Vice Dean for Internationalization and Sustainable Development and the project lead at the Faculty. In his welcome address, he highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the project’s focus on building regenerative economy innovation ecosystems, with a particular emphasis on digital transition and sustainability.
The keynote lecture, titled “Regenerative Digital Transition: Challenge or Opportunity”, was delivered by Prof. Dragan Čišić. His presentation explored the evolving role of digital transformation within the framework of sustainable development, emphasizing how digital tools can serve as catalysts for systemic regeneration of ecological, social, and economic systems.
The central part of the Info Day was a panel discussion on “The Role of Digital Transformation in Sustainable Urban Development.” The panel brought together experts from academia, business, and local government:

Moderated by Assoc. Prof. Saša Čegar, the discussion underscored the critical role of cross-sectoral cooperation in successfully implementing regenerative digital solutions in urban environments. Panelists exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation, stressing the need for inclusive governance, innovative public-private partnerships, and citizen engagement.
The event concluded with remarks reaffirming the CROSS-REIS project’s commitment to fostering collaboration, capacity-building, and knowledge exchange in support of Europe’s green and digital transitions.
