Within the framework of the CROSS-REIS project, the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Rijeka, in cooperation with Komunal, is organizing a conference and training for local policy makers on circular public procurement as a key instrument for driving the transition towards a circular economy. The event will take place from March 30 to April 1, 2026, in Zagreb, at the Westin Hotel.
Over the course of three days, a series of keynote lectures, panel discussions, and workshops will be held, bringing together experts from both practice and academia. Special focus will be placed on topics such as sustainable development of local governments and municipal systems, green and circular public procurement, institutional readiness for implementing circular models, as well as the application of life-cycle costing and the measurement of circular impacts in public procurement.
Through the programme, with particular emphasis on the academic workshop, tools for assessing readiness, defining concrete actions, and applying life-cycle costing approaches in public procurement will be presented.
The aim of the activity is to strengthen the capacity of local governments and public enterprises to make more informed and sustainable decisions in the field of public procurement.
